In May 2025, the CAVITRD team conducted a targeted outreach in Ilemela District. We reached over 20 children living with mobility-related disabilities, delivering 4 walkers, 2 crutches, and 2 wheelchairs. Caregivers received on-the-spot training in basic rehabilitation. The community’s response was overwhelmingly positive, helping reduce stigma and build inclusion.
We officially partnered with Mwanza Health Center to streamline referrals for children needing surgeries and physiotherapy. This includes joint evaluations, care coordination, and scheduled follow-ups. A caregiver who benefitted said, “Before, I didn’t know where to turn. Now my child has been seen by a doctor, and we feel hopeful.”
CAVITRD hosted an awareness seminar in Buswelu village, focusing on early detection of congenital conditions and inclusive support strategies. Over 40 participants joined, including educators, village leaders, and health volunteers. Participants requested more sessions and committed to spreading awareness at school and community levels.
